Quick Build – Wood That I

This key rack was a way to repurpose an old project. I attended a router workshop 2 years ago, where we learned how to make word signs with routers and letter templates. After bringing it home, I stained it grey, and left it on a shelf until my old key rack broke. I asked my dad for any old nails and screws in his garage, and got to work on this art piece. I made this sign about 2 years ago. Time to repurpose it!
Acquired random screws and nails from my dad’s garage and scattered them around. The chaos was part of the art of it.
I screwed them in different amounts, and the result was pleasingly random.
Some of the screws are inconvenient to hang the keys on. It’s perfect.

I made this holiday triangle in 2020. Completed it just in time for Diwali (mid-November) and took it down in mid-January. It brought a lot of light and joy to an otherwise dismal holiday season.

Holiday Triangle: Project Walkthrough >>>
I drilled 10 holes on each side of the triangle, in a staggered pattern. I cut a 1/4″ dowel into 4″ long pegs and glued them into the holes.
Once it was dry, I spray-painted it with a mint green base and an ivory accent.
Tested it indoors for size, and held the top together with a removable peg. This makes it easy to store in the off-season.
I like that I painted it randomly. I try to actively sabotage my need for perfection.
I wrapped a set of curtain lights with 10 strands around the pegs. I layered some pale gold organza cloth on top to soften the light.
